For households, we recommend the Nature Conservancy’s calculator.  It is quite complete.  It also provides a place where you can figure out ways you can reduce your environmental impact.  The calculator's result is in US tons. The global standard for measuring carbon is metric tons.

Another good option for households is the Safe Climate calculator.  This one gives the final figure in pounds per month.

For other types of businesses, there is a detailed calculator available from the Carbon Trust, a company set up by the U.K. government.  You’ll have to do some extra calculations to convert your costs from US dollars to British pounds.  The result is in metric tons per year.
